WILDLANDS Zoo Emmen
A lively start to an adventure

The entrance area of Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen has undergone a metamorphosis. Previously, visitors entered the Drenthe zoo through a cold square without any animals and an illogical and disorienting kiosk.
But that has changed. With the addition of new animals, greenery, decorations, and comfortable seating areas, a cozy and warm atmosphere has been created. The renewed entrance area also offers a beautiful view of all entrances to the various themed worlds, creating a clear and organized square where visitors can gather and orient themselves.
At De Unie Architecten, where I work as a technical draftsman, we have contributed to this transformation.
Our task consisted of the technical elaboration of:
• Animal enclosures
• Lookout point
• Aquarium
• Renewed kiosk
A lively start to an adventure
The absolute eye-catcher is the Ape Ruin: a beautiful temple in Cambodian style, surrounded by animal enclosures, a waterfall, a lookout point, a large aquarium, and multiple bridges.
The result is a warm and inviting square that leads visitors on an adventurous journey through the different themed worlds. Experience the feeling of a zoo from the start to end!
